Rainy days always put me in a mood- I look out the window and I don’t see sunshine. It just immediately puts a damper on my day. I know what they say, you can’t have sunshine without rain but there’s just something depressing about seeing nothing but grey skies.
But I still want to take advantage of the day and kick myself out of the funk I find myself in and these are things that help with that,
Taking the hint to do things indoors
I deep clean, dust my blinds and fans. I take the extra time to really make my home comfy and inviting, light a candle or two and just embrace the indoor world I’ve created for myself.
I take the time to cook
I don’t want to be outside- who does when it’s raining. But I really enjoy cooking so I make that especially a priority when it’s raining.

I surrender to the calm
It’s hard to do, but rainy days are so great for meditating (almost impossible with small children) but I try during naps and in the morning before my kids wake up. To really appreciate all the beauty around me, the smell of rain. Changing my perspective that the change in weather gives me a chance to change my priorities for the day. Take it a little slower, really enjoy the little things like the flowers the rain have given us, and maybe an episode of The Rookie or two haha.
